Fujifilm and Swains recently took to the road to demonstrate a variety of products. On Thursday 2nd October 2014 they were at the Epson head office in Hemel Hempstead, Tuesday 7th October 2014, the Holiday Inn, Paisley and on the last day they found themselves at the Holiday Inn, Runcorn.
Fujifilm demonstrated the Quick Print Station, their Counter Top Instant Photo and Passport Printer for which Swains are one of the key distributors. Also on show was the new Frontier S Dry Lab – a scalable photo lab solution, the Frontier DL650 Drylab – a full photo retail solution and an ideal upgrade package for existing silver halide lab owners. There was also a demonstration using the Epson 7890 24″ Wide Format Printer and a range of new medias.
Visitors were also able to view the new Fujifilm Imagine Kiosk software that provides a seamless photo solution in store, on-line and via a mobile app. FDIS members that had already upgraded where quick to sing its praises and talked about how this had greatly increased photo business through the store (see story elsewhere).
For existing FDIS members and potential new lab owners alike the roadshows gave an exciting insight into the highly profitable business potential in photo imaging from just a few square metres of their retail floor space.
Peter Wigington, FDIS marketing manager, said: “We were really pleased with the three-day turnout. Swains telesales team worked extremely hard beforehand to encourage as many of their FDIS and other account customers to attend, which they did.
For us, it was an opportunity to talk to existing photo retailers about upgrading to our fantastic Fujifilm Imagine software or even replacing their lab with the versatile, yet compact Frontier S. As a direct consequence of the roadshows we are now talking to a good number of potential new customers as well.”
Swains are one of the largest independent distributors to the photo trade. They showcased a full range of cameras, which were very popular with the crowd. The company showcased ideal Christmas gifts which included the latest action camera and the latest range of phones from Vodafone. Swains new electronic frames also made an impressive entrance, visitors loved them.
Danny Williams, from Swains, said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout for the roadshow’s, they are hugely popular and we enjoy them. We managed to talk to existing photo retailers which is always great, but we also managed to speak to new customers. Our range of cameras were very popular and our new range of electronic frames went down a treat. This is because taking photos is growing more and more in popularity and people are keeping those memories by printing- it’s as simple as that. It was great to see all the Fujifilm products showcased including the Fujifilm Imagine Software, which went down a storm.”
